Camp Li-Wa is looking forward to another exciting summer of fun in Fairbanks, Alaska! We have some new surprises in store for you this summer and some of your favorite activities from past years. We have special programs for all ages. Where most evenings are spent sitting close around a crackling campfire shrouded with the noise of laughter and songs, while discovering God.

Our camps are hugely popular, so never hesitate to sign up early to ensure you spot at camp this summer. For a lifetime of memories and a strong relationship with our Lord and God.

Camp Li-Wa (Living Water) was started in 1959 and was operated as part of the Denali Bible Church in Fairbanks for 25 years mainly as a summer camp. Wycliff also had a missionary there. Camp Li-Wa was turned over to InterAct Ministries (Victory's parent organization) and then to Victory Ministries.

Camp Li-Wa now runs eight weeks of summer camp. It is also a winter retreat for churches in the area and just recently completed a heated riding arena to minister to the needs of the Fairbanks community. Camp Li-Wa is located just five miles from Fairbanks and ministers in that area.

Collin and Sam AmickCollin & Sam Amick Collin is the Associate Program Director at Camp Li-Wa and a part time youth pastor for University Baptist Church. Collin came to Fairbanks in the summer of 2008 as a SALT counselor. The next spring Collin came back to work and live in Fairbanks. That June 2009 Collin and Sam got married in Montana. They honeymooned in Denali National Park and returned to work at camp. Sam works at a local elementary school named Weller. Sam is taking classes at UAF in sign language. Collin grew up in South Carolina. He went to a Bible college called CIU where he met Sam. Sam grew up in Montana. She went to a college in Grand Rapids, Michigan and then transferred to Columbia International University where she met Collin. They now have a little white dog named Jack. They love the outdoors, fishing, traveling and hanging out with friends and family.

Dave and Chris GoffDave & Chris Goff Dave and Chris Goff came to Camp Li-Wa in 2008. The couple are formerly from Wisconsin where Chris worked in the camping industry for 30 years and Dave worked in engineering. Dave is the Director of Camp Li-Wa and Chris is the primary cook and helps with housekeeping. Both of them love to hike and read.

Mark and Jo HibmasMark & Jo Hibmas Mark works in the vehicle and barn maintenance department. Jo is the secretary and registrar for Camp Li-Wa along with helping in the housekeeping department. Nate is a student at Hutchison High School and Jarod is enrolled at Weller Elementary. The family came to Li-Wa for the summer of 2008. They returned permanently in July of 2009. The Hibmas are originally from Michigan. The family loves to hunt and horseback ride.

Jeff and Krista WinellJeff & Krista Winell The Winell family came to Camp Li-Wa from Michigan in 2008. Jeff is the Program Director and Krista helps in the kitchen and general camp cleaning. Krista also home schools the boys and works part-time in gymnastics. After graduating from Cornerstone University Jeff pursued his dream of entering the camping ministry. Their family loves interior Alaska and their interests include traveling, hiking, and all things outdoors.

Ron and Cheryl GallegosRon & Cheryl Gallegos The Gallegos family came to Camp Li-Wa in September of 2002. Ron is in the maintenance department and Cheryl runs the petting farm and helps with the horses. Benjamin is enrolled at the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida. Timothy is a senior in high school, Jonathan is a freshman, and Katherine is a 7th grader. The family enjoys camping and traveling together.

Teddy and Lizz FrankeTeddy & Lizz Franke Teddy and Lizz have been serving at Camp Li-Wa for three years. Teddy is the Horsemanship Director; which means he oversees the daily functions of the barn, the programs associated with it, and the care and training of the horses. Lizz's current primary job is housewife and taking care of their baby girl, Alina. (Both Teddy and Lizz grew up in Christian Camping and are thrilled that they can raise their family in the same environment.)

Jessica Terwilliger Jessica first started serving at Camp Liwa the summer of '08 as a WIT (wrangler in training). She returned the following summer as a second year WIT. In the spring of 2010, Jessica got her Level 1 Instructors Certification and spent the summer here as Head Wrangler. By the Lord's leading, she is now full time missionary staff at Liwa for the winter of 2010-2011. Jessica teaches riding classes throughout the week, assists in various barn events, barn up-keeping and care, as well as spending time learning what it takes to run a camp throughout the year. She is originally from Anchorage and is prayerfully planing on attending a Bible college in New Zealand after her year of ministry at Liwa. Jessica loves riding, spending time with people, and living a life lead by the Lord.

Camp Registration To register for camp you can register online or call 907.457.6059 during our office hours. Returning campers should use their existing accounts. If you can't remember your username, please call our office for assistance. Registration requires a non-refundable $50 deposit. The remaining balance must be paid no later than two weeks prior to the camp session. During the registration process you will have the option to add money to your snack shop account (campers are not able to use cash in the snack shop). During the registration process you will need to have health information available, including shot records if possible.

Medications If your camper needs to take medications at camp you must turn them in when you register to the camp nurse. All over the counter and non-prescription drugs remain in the ORIGINAL CONTAINER. All prescription medications must be in a PHARMACY LABELED container with the campers name on it. Loose pills will not be accepted.

Over-the-counter Medications: Li-Wa typically offers the following non-prescription medications on an as-needed basis. By law we must use our own supply. Please notify us of any medications you DO NOT want given to your child.

Riding the Camp Bus We provide transportation to camp and from camp for day campers only. The camp bus will pick up and drop off at the Wal-Mart parking lot at 8:40 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. The only times the bus will not run for day campers is arrival on the first day and drop off on the last day. Please let registration know if you want your child to ride the bus.

Sending Mail You can send mail or a package to be delivered to a camper during their week of camp. Please include their name and the camp they are attending. It would be best if mailed early to ensure a timely delivery.

Parental pick up To ensure your child's safety, only the camper's parent/guardian may pick him/her up at the end of camp or for an early departure. If you desire a friend or relative to give your child a ride, Camp Li-Wa must receive a letter – signed by the camper's parent/guardian – stating the name of the adult who is authorized to pick up the child and when the child should be released into his/her care. You may fax this info to us at 457-1325 if not turned in personally. Every visitor must check-in at the office and all campers leaving the premises during camp time will need to be signed out at the office. We understand that sometimes children will need to be picked up for sporting or other events in the evening. We ask that you return your child by 9:30 p.m. to the Program Director/Counselor because the office will be closed. If you miss the 9:30 p.m. deadline we ask that the child spend the night at home and return to camp at 9:00 a.m. to the lower dining hall for breakfast.

Office Hours Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. year round.
